The iPhone 8 would not support the fastest possible mobile internet. Not because Apple does not want it, but because Qualcomm is the one with the solution.
iPhone 8 mobile internet slower by Qualcomm battle:
Although gigabit internet is not yet supported for mobile devices, providers are ready to take the step. For example, the four largest providers in the United States have already committed themselves to launch this year to this fast-paced internet speed.
Bloomberg writes that the next iPhones can not be used here. Intel needs more time to get a modem with support, leaving the company out of time for the iPhone 7S and iPhone 8 this fall. This would normally not be a problem, because Apple could simply choose the alternative of Qualcomm.
That's not going to happen now, because Qualcomm and Apple are involved in a lawsuit. The companies complained for patent infringement and the relationship between the two was never so bad. According to Bloomberg's sources, Apple would therefore seriously doubt to make more dependent on the manufacturer.
There is no disaster that the new iPhones do not support gigabit internet. Providers are not ready yet, so do not you notice as a user yet. However, iPhones last longer than one year, so it may cause irritation in the future.
A problem for later:
